Maple Class – Science – Water Cycle
Today in Maple Class, we looked at the water cycle! First, we revised states of matter, what they are and how they can change from one to another. We then discussed what was needed to change states of matter and we remembered from previous investigations that it was heat.
After that, we discussed new vocabulary, which was evaporation and condensation. We learned that evaporation was the change from liquid (water) to gas (vapor). We also discussed that it was the heat form the sun that changed these.
We then discussed the water cycle! We learned a song first to familerise ourselves with the vocabularly and afterwards created our own mini water cycles in bags! We had to draw the water cycle on the bag, label and then put some water into each bag. We placed them on the slightly warm radiator (heat source) and came back 30 minutes to see both condensation and evaporation happening!
We had lots of fun and look forward to relating this lesson to The River Nile soon.
